Anti Drug Committee


Anti-Drug Committee

The Anti-Drugs committee of the ASMWC has been constituted to ensure a drug-free campus
by imposing a total ban on the possession or consumption or use of drugs and alcohol by
students of the college, within or outside the campus/hostels. The duties of the anti-drugs
committee includes organizing awareness programs in the college and hostels with the help of
government authorized agencies/organizations. Educating the students regarding the ill- effects
of drugs and alcohol, encouraging peer policing among students against the use of drugs and
reporting of any noticed use of drugs by the students to the Anti-Drug Committee / Students
Welfare Office are also the duties of the committee.

THE OBJECTIVES, ACTIVITIES AND COMPOSITIONS OF THE ANTI-DRUG CLUB

Ant-Drug clubs are required to be set up in every educational institution for creating awareness against
drug abuse.
OBJECTIVES:

? Awareness among students regarding ill effects pf drug abuse. Though most students
know that drugs are illegal there is no counter narrative amongst their social and peer
group that insists that drug abuse is wrong in every ethical, moral and legal sense.
? To protect the students from the ever increasing threat of drug addiction by involving
them as stakeholders. By making it a responsibility that students have to ensure that
their campus is drug free would take larger responsibility for their school and
surroundings society.
? Students would have a sense of participation in the campaign. Today youngster’s are
falling prey to the menace of drug abuse because of lack of any other outlet for their
energies, lack of confidence and urge to fit in / seem “ cool ” as a result of depression
and because they feel they may not get caught.
? Anti-Drug awareness to motivate the institutions to declare themselves drugs free
? Generate a sense of confidence amongst parents of students
? A Healthy and fit next generation

ACTIVITIES:

? Organizing and participating in seminars with guest speakers
a) Local medical organizer
b) Local police personnel
c) Local administration
d) Other experts
? Organizing a poster / pamphlet competition and creating pamphlets with catchy
slogans and phrases to be judged by prescribed institution committee and
winners to be appropriately recognized.
? Distributing pamphlets in public areas under the supervision of faculty in charge
of club
? Organizing a visit to local fire station, police station etc., members learn to draft
a complaint to police incase of any untoward incident
? Organizing cycle rally to create awareness on drug abuse under supervision of
teachers
? Organizing essay competition within institution on the theme of drug abuse
? Organizing a song on theme of drug abuse
? Creating a street awareness on drug abuse and organizing such plays in campus
and other areas
? Any other innovative method to create awareness
