[1]	Ethos and Social Changes In Mahesh Elkunchwar's 'Old Stone Mansion ANJALI M In Shodha Prabha (UGC CARE Journal) , , Jul 2022, Volume: 47, Page: 29. Abstract [+] This paper is aims to study social changes in Mahesh Elkunchwar's 'Old Stone Mansion. Mahesh Elkunchwar (born 9 October 1939) is an Indian playwright with more than 20 plays to his name, in addition to his theoretical writings, critical works, and his active work in India's parallel cinema as actor and screenwriter. Today, along with Vijay Tendulkar he is one of the most influential and progressive playwrights not just in modem Marathi theatre, but also larger modem Indian theatre. He has been given many awards including Sahatiya Academi Award in 2002. Elkunchwar emerged onto the national theatre scene with the publication of his one-act play Sultan in 1967 in noted literary magazine This play was immediately noticed by Vijaya Mehta; he went on to direct four of his early plays, including Holiand Sultan in 1969 and 1970 for Rangayan. A number of commercial hits followed such as Holi (1969), Raktcipushpa (1971), Party (1972), Virasat (1982), and Atamkatha (1987). Considered a successor to Vijay Tendulkar, Elkunchwar's plays are written in Marathi, the Indian language that is spoken by approximately 90 million people. The plays have been subsequently translated into multiple Indian and Western languages including English, French and German.

Abstract [+] This Research Paper is an aim to attempt the traumatic experiences and cultural perplexity of the first and second generation immigrants and which explores the depth analysis of women's consciousness, self discovery and their immigrant experiences among the male dominated society in Bharati Mukherjeeâ€™s Jasmine (1989), which set in the present about a young Indian woman Jasmine in the United States who, trying to adapt to the American way of life to be able to survive, changes identities several times. The state of exile, a sense of loss, the pain of separation and disorientation makes Jasmine as Immigrant personality in a quest for identity in an alien land. Jasmine, the protagonist of this novel, undergoes several transformations during her journey of life in America, from Jyoti to Jasmine to Jane, and often experiences a deep sense of estrangement resulting in a fluid state of identity. This Research paper finds out the research hypothesis, how the protagonist jasmine try to assimilate herself into foreign culture where she gains new personal identity.

Abstract [+] This paper aims to study Jayaâ€™s search for identity in Deshpandeâ€™s novel â€œThat Long Silenceâ€. Shashi Deshpande was born in small town at Dharwad, Karnataka. Deshpande is one of the most contemporary Indian Women Writer in English. The novel â€œThat Long Silenceâ€ won the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1990. Shashi Deshpande reveals an image of ordinary middle class Woman Jaya, a house wife to be in search for her own identity. In this novel Deshpande gives a extraordinary portrayal of Jaya tries to reject a Long Silence and search for her identity begun in childhood and she rooted herself in the obstacles of her young life.
