About the Department
ABOUT PHYSICS DEPARTMENT
ASMWC was established in the year 1999. The department of Physics was establishing in the year 2001 with the undergraduate course with an intake of 50 students and it was upgrade with the post graduate course in the year 2004 with in intake of 26 students in the aim of equipping students with scientific knowledge.
In order to full fill the demands from the students, an additional section was started for B.Sc., in the year 2014. The department is fully equipped with modern lab and good infrastructure facilities supported by excellent teaching expertise. The department highly motivates the students to study of physics and to the crucial contribution of science and technology to the present society development.
The department is offering M.SC (Full-time) degree courses with its focus on developing new experimental tools and theoretical approaches to understand physics and their applications in various fields of science together with the behavior of matter from atom to celestial level.
OBJECTIVE:
The objective of the course is to create awareness in the field of physics and cultivate scientific approach and research aptitude among the graduate students in various subjects of physics and emerging extensions of research activities. The task includes preparation, enhancement etc., of human resources in strengthening the activities for the development of basic scientific knowledge and skill.
VISION
Physics provides immense scope for study, research and gainful employment in various sectors. The department of physics of Arcot Sri Mahaalakshmi Women’s College (Autonomous) is determined to educate and graduate rural students. To achieve this vision, the department is dedicated to providing a course of study for under and post-graduation physics which combines curriculum and research-oriented project that the high-quality, innovative and intellectually challenging.
MISSION
The mission of the Department of Physics of Arcot Sri Mahaalakshmi Women’s College (Autonomous) is to advance physical sciences through the education of under and post graduate students in rural society by providing them with quality classroom learning and research opportunities. The department is committed to impart a high standard for excellence in all branches of physics by innovative and dedicated teaching at under and post graduate level to produce students with good knowledge in physics.

ELIGIBILITY:
Candidate must have at least cleared her 12th class with minimum 50% of marks in aggregate from Higher Senior Secondary.
