INTRODUCTION

The establishment of  Arcot Sri Mahaalakshmi Women’s College (Autonomous) Centre for, Indian Knowledge System (ASMWCCIKS) is a significant step towards integrating and promoting India’s ancient wisdom in modern education. The center aims to act as a bridge between traditional knowledge system and contemporary disciplines, fostering interdisciplinary research and education.

VISION

Vision of ASMWCCIKS is to become a global hub for the preservation, dissemination, and integration of India’s ancient Indian Knowledge System. This is a significant step towards integrating and promoting India’s ancient wisdom in modern education. 

MISSION

• To promote awareness and understanding of Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) through academic and cultural initiatives.
• To undertake interdisciplinary research that links ancient Indian wisdom with modern sciences and humanities.
• To empower students to explore the relevance of traditional knowledge in addressing contemporary challenges.
• To preserve and document ancient texts, traditions, and practices for future generations.

PROPOSED ACTIVITIES

• Lecture Series: Talks by experts on topics like Ayurveda, Indian Astronomy, Vedic Mathematics, and Philosophy.
• Workshops: Hands-on sessions on traditional Crafts, Yoga, and Ayurvedic medicine preparation.
• Research and Documentation: Compilation of ancient texts, creation of digital archives, and publication of research papers.
• Collaborative Projects: Partnering with academic institutions and research organizations to explore IKS applications in modern contexts.
• Cultural Events: Organizing festivals, exhibitions, and competitions to showcase Indian traditions.
• Development of interdisciplinary approaches that blend ancient knowledge with modern sciences.
• Establishment of a repository of resources for Indian Knowledge Systems.
